What do I do when someone dies?

We're deeply sorry for your loss. When someone passes away, it's understandable to feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next.

If your loved one has died at home, a doctor will need to be contacted to confirm the passing. If they were in a hospital or aged care facility, staff will guide you through the initial steps. Emergency services can also assist if they are present.

Once this has been taken care of, you can contact our Booragoon team at any time. We'll explain what happens next in clear, unhurried terms and arrange to bring your loved one into our care.

How we help

Religious & cultural funerals

We are experienced in the customs and traditions of different cultures, and can arrange services that honour your beliefs.

Viewings

Spend private time with your loved one in a calm, respectful setting before the service. We can arrange a viewing for close family and friends.

Burial or cremation

We'll walk you through the options and take care of all arrangements, including coordinating with local cemeteries and crematoria.

Receptions & gatherings

Bring family and friends together to share memories and support. We can help with venue selection, catering and logistics – at our function room or another location.

Video memorials

Collect and share photos, videos and memories of your loved one at the funeral or receptions.

Funeral live-streaming

Allow those who can't be there in person to take part with live-streaming and recording options.

Repatriation

If your loved one needs to be transported interstate or back to Australia, we can manage the arrangements on your behalf.

Cortège

We can provide a hearse to transport your loved one and mourning coaches for family members, ensuring dignified transport throughout the day.
